My kids are too old to enjoy Halloween anymore. When they were in full swing, though, it was a night of extraordinary delights. The anticipation was almost as much as Christmas. What could be more fun than dressing up and running yourself crazy for a sack full of candy? Nothing.
Look at this handsome, jaunty lad--you can see his anticipation!

Grandmommy helps us with the at-home duties while my wife and I go with the little one (Just turned 4). We seem to have a rather high variability in the number of tricker treaters. Last year we had well over 50. this year maybe 25.
We also have lots of candy left. My wife bought a bunch of pixie sticks (as well as other items). These are deadly to me as I am able to eat them in frightening quantities.
The little one had a great time. By the end he had Mommy carrying his sack, and Daddy carrying him while he gave directions where to go.
He is very gregarious and thus spent a fairly lengthy time at each stop discussing the merits and issues of the evening. Even with the slow pace he managed to collect about a quarter of his weight in candy.
"Even with the slow pace he managed to collect about a quarter of his weight in candy." Is this candy inflation? Oh, it was a long time ago when my youngest was 4--Christmas will be extra special this year!
