"The Chocolate Manufacturers Association, whose members include Hershey, Nestle SA and Archer Daniels Midland Co., has a petition before the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to redefine what constitutes chocolate. They want to make it without the required ingredients of cocoa butter and cocoa solids, using instead artificial sweeteners, milk substitutes and vegetable fats such as hydrogenated and trans fats."It's blasphemous to want to call a synthetic food, which is what they describe above, 'chocolate'. Apparently, because cocoa butter has increased in price, the never ending search to save costs provides us with this proposed bastardization of chocolate.

It absolutely is "synthetic food"!!
Below is a link people who care about the issue of synthetic food -- in this case, synthetic "chocolate" -- can use to find out exactly how to oppose this ridiculous proposal.

If companies want to create faux chocolate confections, feel free. But under no circumstances -- none! -- should companies be allow to misidentify them.
Let people who enjoy synthetic food eat synthetic food, including synthetic confections. Just identify them as synthetic and let the market decide.
Again, here's the link for more detailed information on how to easily voice a complaint:

Yes, I filed my complaint early this a.m. Thanks for providing the links for others.
Dogwoods, chocolate, wine, woodsheds and weeds. Where will this blog go next? I don't even want to speculate.
Anyway, aren't these markets glorious? Have you read Grantham's latest? A must read. A negatively sloping risk curve! How absolutely Alice-in- Wonderlandish!
My trailing hedges drag on my performance. But I sleep nights knowing that some Asian Contagion and gap down open will not hurt me significantly.
Did you warn Bill about predicting the course of the markets? He seems to have ignored it!
My hermaphroditic tree is sprouting its reddish purple leaves for all to see. Maybe a picture or two sent south through the ether to show you its proud podless visage. :)
MarkM,
Where are the photos?
Where can we read Grantham's latest?
Don't be a hold-out!
It's interesting to see just how permeant virtual memory has become in our everyday lives. It's like everywhere I turn, I see something with a card slot or USB jack . I guess it makes sense though, considering how much more afforable memory has become as of late...
Ahhh... I shouldn't be moaning and groaning. I can't get through a day without using my R4 / R4i!
(Posted on ZKwa for R4i Nintendo DS.)
