I'm beginning to feel more comfortable operating on my instincts rather than overthinking this stuff. Nona--sounds like you need to work on acting on your instincts too! I closed out several of my green positions early this a.m. (HERO, SSL, IIVI calls). BAS (down ~5.45%), small position, had a poor earnings showing, and the entire complex had a bad day. I actually added to my HOFF position--I may regret that. Overall I'm even for the day.
I was troubled by the bounce in RTH, but I see that it was short covering. I have finally come to realize--and I guess you can just call me slow (big slap to the forehead)--that many times when the stock goes up when I think it should go down it is short covering. Why did it take me so long to understand that? I've put the short interest website on my sidebar so that I can see the monthly trend in short interest.
I still have my FMD calls which suffered badly today.
MarkM with your hedge, I'm surprised you were creamed. I'm really interested in seeing what the Asian markets will do this p.m. I do not think that it will be pretty.
Well last time they dumped everything like this was 2/27. I had one strategy up. I usually need three to act well to break even. All my non-correlated asset plays were thrown overboard today. My goal is to win 2/3 of the down days and I have been doing that regularly but today was particularly HARSH. This bears watching.
Here's your answer! Asia down, though really not as much as I thought. Let's see if the buy the dippers reappear. If they don't then we all need to rethink this:

(I used your TinyURL! Fancy that, an educable male! You probably have your mate completely trained by now. Poor poor "tortured" soul. :) )

My psuedo hedge fund got absolutely creamed today. I can't ever remember that happening. Is it significant? I don't know.

Just this past weekend I e-mailed a friend letting her know that I was going to lighten up on Monday.
Didn't.
Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuch!
Taught me a lesson: Pay attention to your own e-mails, damnit!

May your portfolios return to green tomorrow.

MarkM--Asia was down alot and then recovered a bit, though still down.
I don't bother to try to train my husband, nor he me. We are both old dogs, so no new tricks for us!
In the training department, I think most (all?) men are cats.
Just try.
Much better for all of us if we just enjoy each others' idiosyncrasies.
Purrrrrrr.....
I've never tried to train my husband, and more importantly he's not tried to train me.
Did I mention that my husband thinks I'm hot? That he thinks I'm his trophy wife? That I haven't had this smokin' hot body since.....
Please put an end to those Nutri-system commercials!!!!!!
